How reliable are palm leaves and are remedies really necessary?

A question regarding palm leaf libraries was asked in the Q&A section on the Aluska.org website, with whom we have long-term cooperation. Because we are professionally engaged in this field and the article also refers to our service and experiences with us, we republish this interesting text with the author’s permission.

Hi, I also have a question about karmic burdens: I had my palm leaf found and read. The conclusion: karmic burden, specific past deeds were described, and to cleanse karma I was given various tasks (offerings, donations, and chanting mantras). Now I am confused… what you wrote seems quite logical, but I also know your opinion on palm leaf readings… Could you please answer me, thank you.

Palm leaves in India are part of tradition and their religion. People there believe in karma and rituals that alleviate it, so it is naturally intertwined. Indians reportedly do not even comprehend how a European can have their leaf read and then refuse to address past lives because they do not believe in them. To them, it is completely incomprehensible because it is part of their daily life, tradition, and taken for granted. However, that does not take away your right of free choice to say that you do not want to perform remedial measures (“remedies”) because you do not believe in karma.

Moreover, I know from someone who visited a palm leaf library decades ago—when readings were not so popular and not such a big business—that the library already knew who was coming, knew his name, and told him something along the lines of:

“Why are you coming here when you know very well that you hold your destiny in your own hands and your leaf is not here? You are wasting your time and ours.”

He also mentioned that back then, looking into past lives was not part of the reading and remedies were not performed. I personally shouldn’t have a leaf there either, because I took my destiny into my own hands long ago… That would indicate that palm leaf reading has evolved over several decades; approaches and practices changed, and there are many aspects that neither I fully understand. After all, I am not a reader and have never been to India. I only know what people have told me and what I experienced myself.

While it is an assumption I cannot prove, I acknowledge the possibility that past life readings and remedies are ways to encourage Europeans to travel to India and spend resources visiting specific temples where offerings are made… Even Mr. and Mrs. Valent (nadi.cz - who are very reliable, I can recommend them) admit that there are currently many libraries in India and a large percentage of them are fake with unqualified readers. They actively warn against them, having spent extensive effort visiting, verifying, and finding genuine libraries that truly master their craft with accurate readings.

So a certain shift has indeed occurred. Decades ago, fake libraries did not exist and libraries were few, whereas now they are numerous and without a verified address one can easily stumble upon a fake one. Local reading prices are also quite different from European prices :)

Nevertheless, I personally was satisfied with my reading, and at the time I needed it, it genuinely helped me a lot. I was going through an emotionally difficult period and it supported me. Even today, I look back on what I learned—not that I am overly dependent on it, but I am truly grateful for that investment; it returned to me many times over.

If someone is at a crossroads, it is definitely a viable and functioning way to find answers and support. Whether someone chooses to do remedies or not remains entirely their own free choice.

To make things even more layered: from the practical experience of naadi readers and the Valents, it appears that remedies do have an influence on destiny. When someone stands at a crossroads and skips the remedies, the positive trajectory often does not materialize. When they perform remedies later, that favorable window reopens. Unless these are mere coincidences, one should consider the possibility that recommended remedies carry energetic value and can indeed open better pathways and hope.

Leaves often state:

“If you choose this way, things will be difficult. But if you change your approach, improve your conduct, perform remedies, and work on yourself, you will avoid troubles and thrive.”

The question then remains whether that good path is unlocked purely by personal transformation, self-reflection, and wiser decisions, or whether remedies contribute their part. I acknowledge an energetic impact—perhaps not rewriting ancient past lives, but clearing current blockages, which logically influences one’s present life. In such cases, one could also perform alternative, accessible cleansing rituals at home with the same sincere intention and achieve a similar effect.

I personally place greater weight on genuine self-improvement; remedies in my view are an accompanying factor. I knew someone who consulted the leaves while facing a major life crossroads. She read the entire leaf to me. It outlined two distinct paths depending on her choice:

“If you continue as you have, making hasty choices, things will not go well—your relationships will struggle and difficulties will arise… BUT if you reflect deeply, a wonderful path awaits where you meet a life partner, achieve stability, write a book, and raise children…
It is necessary, however, to take a full year of rest, self-reflection, pause dating, prioritize mental health, do remedies, and chant mantras. Once your mind is clear and calm, you can accomplish great things; otherwise, old patterns will repeat.”

Ultimately, while she chanted mantras, she skipped genuine self-reflection, took predictions out of context, dismissed the required year of patience, rushed into another relationship immediately… and it turned out poorly. Not because of missing remedies, but because she ignored the clear, sound counsel given to her.

Palm leaves are not meant for everyone. One should consider beforehand whether they are truly ready to hear unfiltered truth without turning away. Many people who receive warnings simply filter them out or rationalize them away, and only wonder later why challenges arose. When a serious issue appears in a leaf, a solution is always offered: readers consistently encourage and provide guidance to overcome obstacles together.

Another comforting aspect from what I have seen across numerous Czech readings is the absence of catastrophic global scenarios or world war devastation in personal destinies. This perspective brings reassurance and calms anxiety regarding global turbulence. For me personally, this peace of mind holds great value.
